Western Little League (WLL) has a proud tradition of providing opportunities for some players to participate in Little League sanctioned Baseball and Softball All-Star Tournaments following the end of regular season play.
These tournaments are highly competitive and provide an extraordinary learning experience for those players selected to participate. It is considered an honor to represent WLL in these competitions at any age group.
Little League All-Star Tournaments typically begin in mid to late June and continue through the month of July if teams advance through the District and State Tournaments. At the Little League level (ages 11-12) and above, teams that progress into Regional and National play would continue into August.
Typically, WLL will field anywhere from 8-10 All-Star Teams in any given season. The number of teams fielded by WLL will be determined by the League’s Board of Directors. Coaches for the WLL All-Star Teams are determined by a ballot process conducted in late May after volunteers are solicited from within the appropriate age divisions. If there is more than one volunteer to coach any given team, a ballot is conducted from all the head coaches and assistant coaches within the division.
Once coaches for the All-Star Teams are selected, coaches from all the regular season teams are asked to nominate players from their team they feel are most worthy of All-Star consideration. The All-Star Coaches will then conduct their own scouting from regular season games and assemble teams they feel will best represent WLL. Criteria considered in these decisions includes considering a player’s skill, attitude, sportsmanship, availability for competition and team needs.
The number of players selected to each team will also be at the sole discretion of the head coach based on the available talent level and team needs. Most All-Star Teams will consist of anywhere from 12 to 14 players.
Rosters for Western Little League’s 2021 All-Star Teams will be posted below as they become available.
